Can a computer monitor be use as a normal TV with functions?
I have a HD computer monitor for my computer. It has HDMI and DVI input. I would like to watch TV with it. Of course i would have to buy a TV card to put in the computer. But what i would like to know is how can i watch tv without turning on my computer on. Use the monitor as it a normal tv with remote functions. I am running an extension coax line from my living room (which has the box from my tv cable provider) to my computer which is in another room. Is there any suggestions on how i can do this?

Plug the coaxial cable in the coxial connector on your HD TV.
Please note: HD LCD displays are Televisions that can be used as monitors.
The TV needs no remote. The remote should be used just as you would with your cable box, controlling the cable box and not the TV. Your best bet would be to use a home theater receiver as the switching box but that’s going to run you a few hundred bucks. You need one with HDMI out and inputs and upconversion for any sources you would want to run into that monitor.
Something like this would probably work, but there are hundreds of options
Not sure if this would hurt HD quality – but you could run extension coax line to an A-B box ( 2 inputs, 1 output) and connect your monitor to the other input.
By pushing A button you watch tv ( without putting in a card or using your computer)
By pushing B – It functions as computer monitor
If you get a tuner that goes into your computer, how would that tuner work without the computer being on?
There are external tuner boxes that works without a PC, but obviously, that’ll cost a bit more than the kind that goes into a PC.
