Can I use an newer LCD computer monitor with a digital cable box to watch TV?
Tim M asked:
My set up is digital cable box with DVI and HDMI output, can this be plugged in an LCD computer monitor, like a new Samsung (935 I think), so I can use the monitor as a TV. Let’s assume the monitor has speakers. If you know a monitor model that this works with please list it so I can check specs.

Hi There,
Right now I still believe there are compatibility issues with most digital cable boxes for HD. In otherwords even though it has a DVI or HDMI out it may or may not work. In otherwords your cable box provider is most likely to say that they do not support it and help you out further.
Therefore the best option, or the option that I know works all the time is through the use of component connection. So if it has component you are likely to be able to use your monitor as a tv monitor as well. Otherwise you might have problems. Craig
