Yesterday afternoon I walked into my home office and smelled what I thought was a very strong odor of a marker that had been left uncapped. After much investigation nothing was found. I turned off my computer and monitor and the smell is gone. Which unit is most likely the cause of the smell? What the heck is the smell? Is my computer/monitor going to flame out? Help!!

So is it okay to leave it turned on? How about the computer’s speakers? Do I have to turn them off when the computer is not turned on? Will something happen if I leave them turned on?

I want to use my tv as a computer monitor but my computer does not have s-video and I do not want to buy a new video card. Is there any other way tod do this that is not expensive. thank you

How do I get TV on my computer monitor?

My graphics card specs say it has “TV Out” and it has an S-Video input (my graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1600 Pro / 512MB DDR2 / PCI Express).

But how do I get my cable outlet (i.e. the thing coming out of my wall that normally gets twisted into the back of a TV for cable) into my graphics card/computer/monitor as none of these have an input for this type of cable (I think it is called a coxial cable – basically the standard TV cable wire).

I tried a different set of speakers and the static is still there. It’s only there when my computer monitor is on though. I tried full resetting, looking into my cpu is there were any unusual stuff to see but nothing. This issue is annoying because when i try to talk with people with a mic this static is heard on the outbound of my voice. Otherwise I wouldn’t be complaining about it at all.

I would like a new computer monitor, but my girlfriend says no until our current one breaks. Our current one is an lcd but it is giving out and is a cheap brand. If you have any ideas, they would be appreciated. thanks
