How do I use my plasma as my computer monitor?
Nathan M asked:
I have a new HP laptop and a 5 year old HP desktop, I would like to be able to use my new Plasma which is a Panasonic, as my computer monitor for one of these computers(preferably the desktop), how and what would I need to do this? Thank you.

i think you can with some kind of VGA cable but im not 100% sure.
Find out if your computer and monitor have S-Video ports. If they have, buy a S-Video cable from Walmart, Circuit City or Best Buy. Go to the help section (press F1?) in Windows and search for S-Video or search online for connection procedures. Or check the manual of your monitor.
There are really only two cost effective ways to do it. You can use a VGA ( ) cable and hook it up to the VGA port on the back of the Plasma… if it has one. You can also get an S-Video (http://techpubs.sgi.com/library/dynaweb_docs/hdwr/SGI_EndUser/books/O2PLUS_RG/sgi_html/figures/s.video.gif) cable if your computer has an S-Video output and hook it up to the tv that way. The only other way would be to buy a converter that will convert the VGA signal to a composite one, but these can be anywhere from $100-$200.
If your video card has a hdmi output and your tv has one thats one way, another is VGA just like a pc monitor screen.HDMI is best but VGA is also good but svideo is the worst.I use VGA and also increase the size of my font settings and icon settings so i can navigate the screen from far away like on my lazyboy. So just pick up a VGA or HDMI cable and a plug for the sound cause you need sound from the pc to the tv.
you may need a dvi video cable or Svideo depending on the connection. The SVideo port looks like a PS2 mouse port and th dvi cable port has a white connector port on the TV or it will use the Svideo, or it will have the regular video cable.
