		<description>LCD monitors use a backlight to illuminate the displayed image.  Consequently, black shades when displayed on an LCD monitor looks more like grey.

The higher the contrast of the monitor, black shades will look less grey.

This is important to some folks (particularly those who like to watch Blu Ray or DVD movies or do graphics artwork).  It&#039;s a matter of personal preference.</description>

		<description>obscure bits of info just ignore them.  It&#039;s one of the things that people show off that doesn&#039;t actually mean anything.  there has been testing done and contrast ratio doesn&#039;t make much of a difference in viewing quality.</description>
