well the resolution for that monitor is 1680×1050, so just shy of 1080p, but it can do 720p. If your set top box or whatever you plan to connect it to has a hdmi port, just use an hdmi to dvi connector and it should work, just make sure the set top box/dvd player is set to 720p not 1080p for hd content.
i personally would just use it as a second monitor for my desktop for to everyone their own MSgt.Gunny
It depends what you mean by “view TV”. Do you mean receive signals over the air with an antenna? Or do you mean connect to a cable TV or satellite TV box?
If you have a cable or satellite TV box with an HDMI output and your monitor has a DVI input, all you need is an HDMI-to-DVI adpater, which is less than $20.
If you mean receive antenna TV signals over the air, then you need a converter box (sometimes called an ‘HDTV tuner’) with a DVI or HDMI output. JoelKatz
According to Acer’s specs for the V223W, it is HDCP-compliant, so you should be able hook it up to a digital HD cable box to use it as an HDTV.
A digital HD cable box will have either a DVI or HDMI output, which you can connect to your V223W’s HDCP-compliant DVI port, using either a DVI-to-HDMI or DVI cable.
So call your cable TV company to upgrade to digital HD service, if you haven’t already.
Hope this helps. aviatingamateur
