Well most laptops only have Video-out capabilities not Video-in so im not so sure if your laptop would be able to be used as a display but if you have HDMI cable try plugging it in to the laptop and seeing if the laptop will detect the ps3, you’ll more than likely have to go into display settings of some sort to adjust it but I dont think mots laptops can change the source they are producing video from (just the onboard graphics card).
If your monitor has an HDMI port all you have to do is run an hdmi cable to the back on the monitor, if not there are HDMI to VGA adapters you can get in order to run an HDMI cable from the ps3 to the VGA port on the pack on the monitor but I’m not so sure if you’d be able to get sound this way as I believe VGA only supports video while HDMI would support sound.
If your monitor happens to have HDMI port and then another port for you to plug speakers or has built in speakers, your good to go.
Other than that I’m not too sure but you can find some fairly good sized LCD tvs for only $200 or even less depending on the size, best buy usually has good prices if all else fails. hedgehog661
