My sister thinks the monitor is the computer and is ignorant?

My sister is 16, totally clueless when it comes to computers. Shes on the desktop workspace right now and a website froze on her. She thinks if she turns off the computer monitor it fixes it. Also, if the computer is running slow she turns off the monitor and then turns it back on and claims it makes it run faster.

Someone explain to me so I can yell at her why the monitor has nothing to do why the computer is running slow. I know the reasons, I just need black and white answers. It’s almost to stupid for me to bother to address.

tell her if a monitor was a computer the monitor would be inside the computer tower hahaha
Explain that the computer does all the work and the monitor is just a screen. Think of the monitor as the TV and the computer as the DVD player or something. Or the monitor as an iPod and the computer as the earphones.
I wouldn’t bother, and would instead have a parent or teacher explain computer anatomy to her. Your involvement will most likely lead to her getting angry at you, and she would actually listen better to someone who is higher up in both age and on the totem pole.

if she doesnt know that much shell prolly not understand if i explained why its running slow since with the info u gave there could be lots of issues that can slow a computer down.
best u can do is explain to her calmly and gently without getting furstrated that monitor is ot the actual computer where computing happens and u can show her the cpu that that is the actual computer…and thatmonitor is justa display device.
try using some simple example….
and if she doesnt understand then let her believe what she will least she feels it helps to turn monitor on and off lol
