If I hook it up as a computer monitor, would I still be able to plug in cable and use it as a TV when I want?

I’ve been told that i am not suppose to pause television program for too long on a DLP monitor or Plasma monitor because it would eventually burn the image on the monitor if i did that. However, now a days, i can leave still image on my computer monitor for a very long time and the image will not burn onto the screen. Why is that? please help? thank you.

My computer screen hasn’t been cleaned in a lifetime. What do i need to clean a perspex glass computer monitor without scratching the screen surface? It’s not an LCD or plasma monitor.
