Every once in awhile my monitor goes completely black and I try to unplug my monitor and plug it back in and still no signal. The only thing that works is restarting my computer – I got a new monitor so I know it’s not that – do you think it might be the video card? If so what would you recommend?

How do I get TV on my computer monitor?

Jason A asked:

How do I get TV on my computer monitor?

My graphics card specs say it has “TV Out” and it has an S-Video input (my graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1600 Pro / 512MB DDR2 / PCI Express).

But how do I get my cable outlet (i.e. the thing coming out of my wall that normally gets twisted into the back of a TV for cable) into my graphics card/computer/monitor as none of these have an input for this type of cable (I think it is called a coxial cable – basically the standard TV cable wire).

Thanks for any help.

I just added a second computer monitor to my computer. I did it by adding a second video card. The one i currently had wouldnt support a second one and my computer is 5 years old (but is still pretty powerful) so the newer video cards were to adcanced. but i have been succesful in installing a second monitor. however when i now use programs like photoshop or 3d max (expspecially if i have them open together) my whole system seems to slow down. im sure the new video card is taking up some extra power or something. but my question is how can i fix this problem (without buying another video card)? could i add power or memory or whatever is needed to speed everything up again.

What is your preferred LCD TV to be used as a monitor?

READ CAREFULLY here. I have a Sharp Aquos 37″ LCD TV. There were many different models of the 37″ Aquos LCD TV. Some came with a VGA adapter, some came with a DVI (HDMI) adapter, and some didn’t come with any. The native resolution is an awkward one. I’ve connected my computer to this television in every possible way, using every possible cable at every possible resolution. I either get no picture, blurry picture, pixelated picture or ghosted picture. When used as a TV, it is awesome! When used as a monitor, it is very poor. I WANT EVERYONE’S EXPERIENCED OPINION on what they prefer as an LCD TV (not plasma) and I want all the specs too please. I want to know what cable you are using and how it connects. Is it composite, component, DVI/HDMI VGA S-video whatever. I want to know what video card, what resolution on the card AND what the native (preferred/default) resolution is on the LCD TV. What size it the TV, the model # etc. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
