The colors on my computer monitor are messed up- how do I fix this?

The colors are all very bright and swirling, and look psychedelic; nothing is the color that it should be. The computer was working fine last night, but when I turned it on today the problem started. I have my laptop hooked up to a desktop monitor(because my laptop screen doesn’t work), so I’m not sure if it’s the monitor or the graphics card or something else on my laptop. I have Windows XP. Please help!

But there might be a problem with configuring graphics card as you use external display device so there might be any faulty connection in wires that u use to connect monitor.Try to install the latest graphics driver if that doesn’t solve then it’s problem with display device. alpha
