What is the difference between a DLP TV or Plasma TV monitor, and a computer monitor?

I’ve been told that i am not suppose to pause television program for too long on a DLP monitor or Plasma monitor because it would eventually burn the image on the monitor if i did that. However, now a days, i can leave still image on my computer monitor for a very long time and the image will not burn onto the screen. Why is that? please help? thank you.

This may be true with Plasmas. Plasma TVs have some chance of burn in. Each pixel on a plasma TV can be thought of as a set of 3 gas filled bubbles or red, blue and green. When electricity is applied to the red green or blue pixel it then shines that color. Plasma TVs don’t last as long as LCD or DLP tvs that use a bulb as a light source.
DLP TVs basically have a million tiny mirrors that switch on or off. Basically colored light is shown at the mirrors which then reflects the image onto your screen. There is no chance of burn in.

A good quality Plasma, like Toshiba or Pioneer will last, but the picture ‘wears down’ / goes half brightness at 60,000 hours.

DLP do not burn in. And does not wear down.
LCD Light weight, flat/slim, no burn in also. fecomosis
