What is the socket that I plug my computer monitor into my computer called?
What is the socket that I plug my computer monitor into my computer called? I only ask because I was under the impression that my computer could take two monitors but it turns out that it can’t. I’m looking for a splitter to solve this but I’m not even sure what I’m looking for.
Thanks.

Depends on the plug. It’s either VGA, DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI.
It could also be Mini VGA, Mini DVI, Micro DVI, ADC, Mini DisplayPort, or Mini HDMI. star123compy
VGA Splitter Patrick H
It would be either a VGA D-Sub port, or a DV-I port. However, a “splitter” isn’t going to do you any good when it comes to hooking up a second monitor, at least not if you want to run different images on the different monitors.
You would need to have a dual-head video board (one that comes with 2 monitor ports), or run 2 video cards.
A splitter is simply going to give you the same image on both screens. BluDragyn
You should just invest in a graphics card that has dual monitor capability built in. One with dual ports on the back of the card. fixit99
Go here and look. If you have two of the different types then you can do what you ask. Lil’ Ugly
