Will a HD video card work with a SD computer monitor?

Im thinking about buying a new video card but all the ones i see are HD.
So are they compatible with SD computer monitors?

Yes you may need to get a special adapter for the cable if you still use VGA (Blue monitor cable) or if you DVI-D (white monitor cable) then you wont have any problems.
