Xbox 360 with VGA cable for computer monitor?

I want to play my 360 on my computer monitor but how would i hook up my speakers to my 360? They have just the one prong that goes in to the hole, could i plug that right into my 360? Or could i use a pair of headphones with a USB connection?
Also, the highest resolution my monitor goes to is 1024 x 768
Would it even be worth hooking up to the monitor?
